What do you mean that my account is dormant?
A dormant account is an account that has no customer-initiated transaction within a period of twelve months. This simply means that you have not made a deposit or a withdrawn transaction within twelve months.
How long does it take for an account to become dormant?
It takes twelve months for an account to become dormant if no deposit or withdraw transaction is made within that period. Although, the account would earn interest within the twelve-month period but if no customer-initiated transaction is made the account will go into dormancy.
Why is my account attaining dormancy in 90 days when I have been receiving alerts of interest paid to my account?
Interest payments are bank-initiated transaction not customer-initiated transaction this is why your account is attainting dormancy. Some examples of customer-initiated transactions are withdrawal and deposit of cash, payment through cheque, RTGS or internet (online) banking, use of phone banking, or ATMs etc.
Why was I not notified that my account will be dormant in 90 days?
We will always attempt to notify you at least 90 days before your account becomes dormant. However, you weren’t notified prior to the stipulated 90 days because we were collating all accounts that are due for dormancy in 90 days. Also, we find that sometimes customers do not notify us of a change in their contact details. If we do not have a current contact number or email address, we are unable to reach out to you to give you this important message. We ask that you always provide us with your latest contact details and address in the event that it has changed by completing our ”HAVE YOUR DETAILS CHANGE” form @ https://trustbankgambia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/HAVE-DETAILS-CHANGE.pdf

This means if you want to close your account and your account is not updated, the Bank is obliged to request for all necessary information/documents before closure of account will be granted.
