Trust Bank’s management demonstrated their commitment to corporate social responsibility in healthcare by presenting donated medical items valued at D300,000.00 from their institution to the Dialysis Unit of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital on Tuesday. This initiative is part of the bank’s ongoing program to support healthcare facilities nationwide.
During the presentation ceremony, Trust Bank’s Managing Director, Njilan Senghore, expressed concern over the challenges faced by individuals in need of regular dialysis who may struggle to access or afford essential treatment. She emphasized the critical role played by the EFSTH Dialysis Unit as a lifeline for those battling kidney disease, providing life-saving treatment and hope for a brighter future. Senghore highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by healthcare facilities, including insufficient equipment and limited resources.
“It is disheartening to witness the suffering experienced by individuals who require regular dialysis but are unable to access or afford the treatment they desperately need. Imagine living with a medical condition in which your kidneys are not working well enough to keep you alive, and your treatment options are limited to dialysis treatments or kidney transplants.” The EFSTH dialysis unit serves as a lifeline for those battling kidney disease, enabling them to receive life-saving treatment and offering hope for a brighter tomorrow. However, this unit, just like any other health facility in the country, is burdened with challenges that limit its capacity to address the growing demands of the community. Insufficient equipment and limited resources are just a few of the obstacles that our medical facilities face on a daily basis,” she said.
Senghore conveyed her belief that the donated medical items would not only directly benefit individuals but also positively impact society as a whole. She emphasized the importance of investing in community health, stating that by strengthening the foundations of health and well-being, we contribute to the overall prosperity and growth of society.
“This donation today will not only benefit individuals directly but will also have a ripple effect on our society as a whole. When we invest in the health and well-being of our community, we strengthen the foundations upon which prosperity and growth are built. With improved dialysis facilities, we can enhance the quality of life for many and enable them to continue making valuable contributions to our economy and society,” she said.
Abubacarr Jagne, the Deputy Chief Medical Director of EFSTH, acknowledged Trust Bank’s long-standing support for the Dialysis Unit, underscoring the bank’s consistent commitment to making a difference in the healthcare sector.
